Because the term “Sports Medicine” has been loosely applied to various areas of study, it is at times misunderstood. It is my hope that the sampling of patient profiles described in this site will give the reader a better understanding of the scope of my practice. I have been living in Chico since 1997 with my wife Megan, who is also a physician and a native of Chico. We have two boys, Galen (age 14) and Bryce (age 10). As a family we all enjoy the outdoor sports and activities that the North State has to offer.

I am a Board Certified Family Practice Physician and hold a Certificate of Added Qualification in Primary Care Sports Medicine. I worked as an urgent care physician at Chico Immediate Care from 1997 to 2004, and prior to that I was employed as director of the Spine Unit in the orthopedic department of Kaiser Permanente in Stockton, California. I also served as an associate clinical professor at UC Davis, teaching musculoskeletal medicine to medical students and residents.
